Regeneration of Market Quarter moves a step closer

The proposed regeneration of Preston’s Market Quarters is edging closer after Preston City Council revealed architectural and ground condition surveys have been completed.

The architects can now begin designing the scheme and consult with traders, customers and stakeholders before refining any plans. The council hopes to submit a planning application for the scheme by summer with work starting in early 2016 making better use of the Grade II listed 1875 market canopy to provide new facilities for traders.

The leader of Preston City Council said “regeneration of the Preston Market Quarters is a top priority and we want to deliver a thriving market that the city can be proud of”.
