£1 Million renovation revealed for historic Winckley Square Gardens, Preston

Designs for the renovation of the historic Winckley Square have been revealed before their submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund at the end of February. The Heritage Lottery Fund panel expect to make a decision in summer 2015 with works, potentially, starting in 2016 if approved.

Chief Executive of the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce said “the site is expected to become one of the most beautiful and vibrant destinations in Preston. If successful it will have significant economic and social impact on the city”.

Led by Groundwork Lancashire West and Wigan the scheme involves introducing lighting to improve night time security, wider footpaths, replacing seating and repairing the Robert Peel statue amongst other changes.
